Sliding, swinging, or vertical lift gates, we can keep you in your car when the rainy season hits or any circumstance where you’d rather not get out of your car to open a gate. When someone needs a gate automated they call us! Besides automating your home gates, we have installed gates at Sony Studios, the State and Federal Buildings, UPS, The US Postal Bulk Mailing Center, Fex Ex, Greyhound, McMaster Carr, Shasta Beverages, The Sherriff’s Department, City of Vernon, various school districts, and the list goes on.
Thinking of automating your gate? If you’re installing new gates and you think you might want a gate operator in the future, it’s important to make your gate “motor ready”. It costs much less to plan ahead than to try and retrofit a gate at a later date.
Also, certain type of gates need certain clearances for the motor. For example, a sliding gate usually needs 3’ more storage space than the length of the gate. Let’s say your gate is 20’; you would need 23 feet.
Give us a call before you start planning your gate opening so we can help you plan ahead, even if you’re not going to install a motor right away.
Types of Gate Motors in Norwalk The most common gate operators are for sliding and swinging gates. Swing gates can use a box type operator, but if you’re short on space, we can also install a hydraulic arms.
Sliding gates will need some type of ground track to guide the gate. Ground track can be installed on the surface, or below grade.
We can also install garage door type gates, or gate that lift p vertically in the air. You're really only constraint is your budget! (Though good planning at the design phase of your fence and gates can save you a ton of money!)
Unique Gate Solutions Let’s say the grade of your gate opening isn’t even. Maybe it dips in the middle and you don’t want a large gap underneath the gate. Or you don’t have storage space for a roll gate. Your Norwalk Fence Contractor can install gates that lift up into the air and collapse as they open. This allows the bottom of the gates to be built to match the grade.
The Greyhound bus terminal has a circumstance that required the gate to lift vertically into the air so the buses would pass through underneath!
Automated Gate Safety We are also specialist in ensuring your automated gate is as safe as possible for pedestrians and vehicles. There are now State Codes pertaining to automated gate safety.
We can install ground sensors that keep the gates open until the cars are clear of the gate opening.
Photocells can detect pedestrian and vehicles to prevent the gates from closing. A rubber safety edge can be installed just in case the gate hits an object. The gate will then reverse itself.
Slide gates should now be installed with mesh or solid covering to keep pedestrians from getting limbs stuck in the gates.
Many cities require special Fire Department access controls for automated gates at businesses and institutions. We can handle that for you as well!
Access Controls There’s a variety of access controls that we can install for your home, business, or institution. The most common is hand held transmitters, such as you use for your garage doors.
In fact, we can provide a two or three button control so you only have one transmitters for ll your gates and doors.
Other common controls are a digital keypads and card readers. These controls can use the same code for each individual, or more secure units can be installed where each individual will have their own code. This way if a person leaves the company, apartment complex, or you fire your gardener, you won’t have to change everyone else’s code.
We also install a variety intercoms from single family homes to multi-unit apartments or business parks, so if a visitor drives up to you gate, you can grant them access. Our latest intercom is completely wireless. This saves you the cost of running communication lines from the gate to the interior of the home or place of business (wireless is dependent on the location and terrain).
As technology increases, IP wireless solutions are coming out as well as cellular based intercoms if it isn't feasible to run electrical from the main structure to your gate,
Self-Closing Gates Your next automated gate can be self-closing so you never have to wonder if you closed the gate or not. As a matter of fact, we can put a 365 day timer on the gate so it opens and closes at specific times during the day. Let’s say most of your employees arrive between 6-6:30 a.m., and leave between 3-3:30 p.m. We can program your gate to open and closing during those specific times to save wear and tear on the gates and prevent entry and exit delays from vehicles backing up.
Telescopic Gates Every once in a while a sliding gate is the only option, but there is not enough storage space. You might have a 30’ roll gate but only 20’ of storage for the gate to open into. We can install a two piece telescopic gate. The first 10’ of gate will roll back onto the second 20’ gate, and then the entire unit will roll open. It’s actually quite awesome and we get calls from all over the country asking us to help design their telescopic gates.
Solar Powered Gates Yep, for you greenies out there we carry solar powered gate operators. Or maybe it’s just not cost effective for you to run electricity to the gate location, as it might be too far from the building or electric panel.
As long as we have a direct line of sight southwest, we can install the solar panels and the battery backups. The size of the panels depend on the amount of controls and devices attached to the gates.
